This is a head on shot of a Greater Spotted Dogfish, or Bull Huss or catshark or  Nursehound (Scyliorhinus stellaris) they are becoming a more common visitor every year.

You can get all manner of brass raging agents, I went with a vinegar fume bath and I am more than happy with the results.

This is a section of I guess superstructure where the plate has long since been bashed/rusted away. There are plenty of bits like this around the site but this one, at the inshore end of the main gully, is oddball as it 'sits up' meaning that any photos can be a bit more interesting as you can get underneath as per this shot.

A very large, well the largest that I have ever seen Common Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), side on you can see how she has 'dimpled up' to look like the short weed on the rock. She was unwilling to move and I didn't want to 'provoke' her but her arms were massive and curled under her and down the other side of the stone. A very impressive site and it made the week!

I really delayed polishing and you will see that at this stage the trunions were still to be machined from the blank.......

On this shot you can see the ribs and some of the remaining steel hull plate plus the sea-bed, not sure how long it has been since this much sand and rock was washed from the site.

A young and undecorated Decorator Crab, or technically a Long Legged Spider Crab (Macropodia rostrata) loads of em on SS Glanmire on weekend on 1st April.

I am pretty damn sure that this section is the very bows of the Yewglen, I am looking for the ideal Kate Twinset to recreate that Titanic scene!

Everywhere that you look the bottom isn't bedrock, it is formed from sections of ship.

Bear with me....its the port side hawse pipe and the two 'eyes' are where the flukles of the anchor located to sop them 'bashing about' when the ship was operating at high speed or inclement seas.

Go out, south, and the bottom turns to big rocks surrounded by grit. Unfortunately it's all very mobile as you will see from the wave form of the sand, this means no scallops!

I have never seen this particular species of Starfish (Echioderm) here in the North East although they are common in warm water further south or on the West Coast. Apparently this species is quite ancient.....
